Are you interested in creating inspiring meetings between people, books, and ideas? Do you want to help write the next chapter for Österåker's library? We are now looking for a dedicated and meticulous librarian focusing on fiction, reading promotion, and program activities. With us, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement literary events, author talks, and lectures – all to promote reading joy and culture in our municipality. Together with the program group, you will plan activities that take place at the library, and you will be responsible for purchasing fiction for adults.

Your future workplace will be at the library in Åkersberga center, which is located right next to the Roslagsbanan and bus station. There are two branches in the municipality, one on Ljusterö and one on Ingmarsö. We are part of the collaboration with Bokbåten, which travels out twice a year in the Stockholm archipelago and we help staff. We offer a wellness allowance of 3200 SEK/year, wellness hour, vacation exchange, and we offer reading time for all staff. The library's workgroup consists of 11 people, and there is a pleasant, cheerful, and respectful atmosphere at the workplace. The library is part of the Culture Unit, which also includes the Finnish administrative area, arts, performing arts (Berga theater), general culture, culture for children and youth, and cultural environments.

Your new job

As a librarian responsible for fiction (adult) and programs at Österåker's library, you will play a central role in shaping the literary and cultural offerings. Here is a closer look at what your everyday life may include:

• Develop and manage our selection of fiction, focusing on meeting the interests and needs of residents. Make conscious choices when purchasing books, focusing on quality, relevance, and inclusion.
• Plan, organize, and lead program activities such as author talks, book clubs, lectures, and literary events, together with others in the program group.
• Moderate discussions with authors, speakers, and other guests, and create an inclusive and inspiring atmosphere.
• Collaborate with residents in the municipality, colleagues, associations, and other actors to strengthen the library's role as a vibrant cultural arena. Create forums for discussion and learning, where residents can meet around common reading interests or creative writing.
• Work independently on projects and tasks while contributing to Österåker municipality's vision and the library's common goals.
• Work closely with residents: By listening to their ideas and needs, and actively inviting them to participate in the library's activities.

Additionally, standard library tasks such as working at the information desk, purchasing, book setup, and other routine tasks are included. Scheduled evening and weekend work is included, as well as possibly working at our branches.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a trained librarian or has a university degree that the employer deems equivalent. It is a requirement that you have relevant university education.
• Has a burning interest in and extensive knowledge of fiction and culture, and it is an advantage if you have experience working with program activities.
• Is meticulous, structured, and self-driven, with the ability to drive projects from idea to implementation.
• Has excellent collaboration skills and enjoys working both independently and in a team.
• Is comfortable conversing, moderating, and speaking in public, and easily creates contact with people in various contexts.
• Masters Swedish at a high level in both spoken and written form.

You are meticulous, creative, and service-oriented, with a genuine interest in making the library a vibrant and inclusive meeting place. It is an advantage if you have knowledge of cataloging work, but it is not a requirement.
